Top 10 spammer nabbed – Security – MSNBC.com

I despise spam. I doubt this will make a huge difference in my e-mail inbox, but it’s about time some of these guys are held accountable for their actions.

OK, here’s a little more serious post :-).

I want to wish a heartfelt congratulations to Cherub Langstaff and Joe Krohn – 2 young people from our church who just graduated from GBS this past weekend. We’re proud of you! May God direct your future and guide all your paths.

Canadian Mump Outbreak!

Posted by joelbyer on May 26, 2007

Yes, again here at BBB, we are on top of the very latest of breaking news. According to this news story, there has been an outbreak of mumps numbering over 300 in Nova Scotia…obviously an epidemic of soon-to-be global proportions.
Now admittedly, (for all my legions of American readers), Nova Scotia is Oh, 1,000 miles away to the east or so, but for your safety as an American, BBB recommends the following steps when meeting a Canadian.
1) Smile at them, but from a distance (this will discourage them from wanting to attack you and thus transmit their diseases)
2) If they offer to shake your hand, politely refuse while mumbling something unintelligible
3) Wear a mask at all times when within 50 miles of the Canadian border.
4) Do NOT tell them, “You can like it or mump it.” This (or similar such expressions) would be a pun in very bad taste and might enrage your average Canadian causing them to throw moose antlers at you…or worse.
5) If you see an actual mump-infested Canadian, contact your local authorities immediately.

Just some helpful info from BBB Northern Command.

New York Times and the Creation Museum

Posted by joelbyer on May 24, 2007

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/24/arts/24crea.html

Now, this is a museum I’d really like to see! Opening on May 28, this museum is based on a literal interpretation of the Genesis account of Creation as found in Scripture. (Which is, of course, exactly how the Bible would have us take this story.)

Of course, the very secular/liberal/naturalistic NY Times doesn’t understand where creationists are coming from, but all in all, the article wasn’t that bad, although obviously written from a “evolution is established fact” vantage point.

Quote:
But given the museum’s unwavering insistence on belief in the literal truth of biblical accounts, it is strange that so much energy is put into demonstrating their scientific coherence with discussions of erosion or interstellar space. Are such justifications required to convince the skeptical or reassure the believer?

Paragraphs like this show how they think that we believe in the Bible “in spite of science”.

Worse than a woman

Posted by joelbyer on May 22, 2007

Please don’t take this personally, BBB female audience, but I’m just pointing out the fact that I change my blog’s looks more than some of you rearrange your furniture.

I’ve also cleverly found a way to lose all my links. Just great. They’re stil on this site, but I don’t know how to make them show up on this page…what a pain.

Update: Now I have a customized header, but can I find my missing links? No sir. Anyone know how WordPress does this?

Sharing my distress

Posted by joelbyer on May 18, 2007

Coming home today, we were about an hour down the road, when I remembered that I FORGOT MY LAPTOP!!!!!!

Sadly, it now sits in PA, while I sit here in Canada. Fortunately, I had copied my work for this Sunday’s message onto a flash drive for my desktop PC, or I would have been an even unhappier camper.

Ezra’s Graduation Pictures, etc.

Posted by joelbyer on May 18, 2007

OK folks, over the last few days our family took a quick trip down to Pennsylvania because my younger brother Ezra was getting married…er…graduation…yeah, that’s what it was, I think. Anyway, we stayed at my wife’s family’s place in Penn View for Wed. evening and Thursday, then went down near Berrysburg, where my brother Ezra was graduating with Berrysburg Christian Academy  as a homeschooler.

And here’s all of our family that was able to get there for the graduation.  img_4625sm.jpg

Here are 4 cousins that I very, very, very rarely get to see anymore. L-R: Brendan Hock,  Judah Nell, Japheth Nell, Nathan Hock. As you can  see, this was a very carefully posed shotimg_4636sm.jpg. img_4649sm.jpgMighty Jeff fellowships with his favourite Uncle Stephen over cookies, baloons, and candles.
