BBB slump

Posted by joelbyer on March 30, 2007

Hey, what’s up with you people? Now we’re only averaging 79 hits a day. Yes, YOU. It’s all your fault. OK, now I’m biting the hand that feeds me.
No wait, actually none of you financially support this site anyway. Don’t you realize how much it costs me to run this thing? Well, actually nothing, but that’s beside the point. Let’s try to step up the hits and start sending in your faith pledges of $100/day. If we just had 1,000 people send me $500 each, I would be a very happy man.
Well, here’s to another frivolous BBB post.

Bro. Stetler is a good preacher

Posted by joelbyer on March 29, 2007

No, not really, actually he is a great preacher.
But then you already knew that.
We had a great service last night!

Mike Gilbert

Posted by joelbyer on March 27, 2007

In a previous post, I mentioned about going to a Youth Revival last weekend at Rock Lake, MI. While there I saw Mike Gilbert and talked to him as I have on other occasions. Today I heard that he was in a serious accident this last Sunday. Here’s an excerpt…

Warning! It’s a little gruesome, but he needs our prayers.

On Sunday morning March 25th around 6:30 a.m.
Mike was in an auto accident involving a tractor that had a fertilizer
spreader with no tail light. He didn’t see the tractor because it was
not light out yet. He received several injuries including two severe
cuts inside his mouth, a broken jaw, several teeth were broken off,
thirteen broken ribs, traumatized heart and lungs, two broken knees,
right leg broken in four places, right ankle was crushed, severed
tendons and nerves and a torn artery in the right leg,his tongue was
almost completely severed, many many bruises, and a chin laceration.

Mighty Mondays

Posted by joelbyer on March 26, 2007

For a while now, I’ve been noticing a trend when it comes to viewers of BBB and that is…drum roll please… they like to check this blog on Monday. BBB tries in vain to remember what its staff does on Monday that is so dynamic, but the only thing I can think of is…um…anyway, that’s what I mean!

In unrelated news, I’m picking up Bro. Stetler at the Detroit Airport tomorrow at 2:45 PM. Pray that we’ll have a great revival! And come visit us, too! 🙂

Youth Revival

Posted by joelbyer on March 24, 2007

It’s been a busy day! Yesterday, I took a couple of young people over to Rock Lake, MI for a youth revival with Bro. Stroup – who is a fantastic preacher, by the way. Today we played basketball ’til we dropped. It was great! Now I’ve got to make up for lost time 😦

More new blogs

Posted by joelbyer on March 23, 2007

BBB estimates that by the year 2012, there will be approximately 3,592 blog links of friends and family on the right side of this blog. Just a couple of years ago, I only knew a few blogs, now there is – using a very technical term – “oodles and oodles”.
Anyway, we welcome a few new one today.

Ben & Kari

Posted by joelbyer on March 20, 2007

This last weekend, Ben and Kari came to visit us. Kari is Jen’s sister, and Ben Orvis is Jen’s potential brother-in-law…assuming he eventually proposes and passes a criminal background check. Anyway, voila. One big happy family.

I suppose this picture could use a little explaining. Kari hadn’t been feeling well. While here her stomach was feeling queasy. In fact, a few days before she had literally been applying Proverbs 23:8 to her life. So, for Sunday dinner she was hungry, but not too much. I felt inspired to take this picture.

BBB news updates…

Posted by joelbyer on March 17, 2007

Well folks, thought I’d give you a late-night BBB news update.

1)The mini-van search continues. We’re pricing things out, kicking tires, and making friends with used car salesmen who of course only have my best interests at heart.

2) Ben Orvis and Kari Bubb are here. Kari is Jen’s sister. They are dating. See their Valentine’s picture back around Feb. 15/16 or so.

3) The Sicklers from PA are here too, though staying with their family.

4) That’s about it.

A family portrait

Matt and Dorcas Hallam along with 2 young people from their church came to speak for us this last Sunday morning. Here’s a picture. See here for a picture of the young people with a tractor.

Update on Smokey McDonald’s funeral from Bethany:
“Joel, I spoke with Dan yesterday and today. Everyone has arrived safely to TN. They will be making arrangements at Neal Funeral Home (www.nealfuneralhome.net). Hopefully the service information will be posted there shortly.”
