Family emotional conditions

Posted by joelbyer on June 29, 2006

As a service to you my faithful BBB reader, I thought that I might update you on our family emotional conditions this weekend. As noted below, my sister is getting married this week and things are quite hectic. So here’s there conditions (I even got some actual quotes!)…
Dorcas: “Frazzled, but happy” – her actual words!
Mom: “Not saying a word” – I’m guessing stressed and distracted
Esther: “Annoyed at people’s lack of organization” – she told me not to dare put this down
Rachel: “Just let me clean the house, and I’ll be happy” – here’s hoping her mother-in-law isn’t checking this blog…
Janessa – blissfully oblivious
Jeffrey – hyper
Stephanie Smith – “cool as a cucumber”
Jen – “neutral” – I’m not sure what this means…
Joel – Too busy blogging to worry about any silly wedding.

OK, so most of this is totally stupid, but never let the facts get in the way of a good blog…that’s what I always say…

Dorcas & Matt are getting married this week! Our family is going down Thursday, rehearsal is Friday, and the big day…Saturday. Now some of you might be wondering, “Hey!? This picture looks a little weird.” Well, what can I say? To be honest, Dorcas and Matt look better this way than they do in real life. So in order not to hurt their feelings, I heavily edited this picture to not make it so bad. Just kidding! 🙂 Actually, this is way they look all the time.

Joel’s Garage

Posted by joelbyer on June 21, 2006

This morning/afternoon I’ve been working on the railroad…no wait…that’s a song. I’ve been working on my minivan, trying to grind out the rust and preserve it better. It’s a much bigger job than it first looked! I’ve finally got most of the primer on…when it dries, on goes the metallic green paint that will perfectly match the origina colour…I hope!
Anyway, it’s just so much fun. Either that, or it isn’t.

Blogger fraud

Posted by joelbyer on June 20, 2006

Could it really be? Yes. Evidently, some people are copying other people’s blogger identities and pretending that they’re really Japheth or Ribeiro or whoever. So make sure that when you see comments on my or other peoples’ sites that it’s the “real McCoy”.

Also, I’ve updated our church web site…giving it a “cleaner” look. Still not up to Jon Plank’s calibre yet, but even a lollipop must start out small. Well, OK actually lollipops start out big, then you lick them smaller but anyway it just goes to show that sometimes a sentence should end sooner before it gets really crazy.

Blanche Unsworth

Posted by joelbyer on June 18, 2006

Well! It’s been a pretty busy weekend! Yesterday was “Grandma” Unsworth’s funeral She was 107! I preached from Psalm 90 about how the Psalmist asked the Lord to teach us to number our days. Her number?
39,095
Amazingly, she was very alert and in good spirits until almost near the end of her life. Her obituary was amazing! She almost certainly will be the last person I ever conduct a funeral for who was born in the 1800’s (1899).
Her life spanned 3 centuries!
But most importantly of course, is that she loved the Lord and had a faithful, consistent testimony. We will miss her!

True story! “Jack, a 15-pound orange-and-white cat, cat sits under a treed black bear in a backyard in West Milford, N.J., Sunday, June 4, 2006. When the bear climbed down, the cat chased it up another nearby tree. Neighbor Suzanne Giovanetti thought Jack was simply looking up at the bear, but soon realized the much larger animal was afraid of the hissing cat. The cat’s owners called it away and the bear ran off.” (AP Photo/Suzanne Giovanetti)
