If at first you don’t succeed…even still, I sure wouldn’t want to be this lady! If you ever get to see the video of this, it’s painfully funny!

This picture was taken this evening. It is taken at about the same spot on the lawn as the picture just below here of Jeffrey and the wheelbarrow (taken this last Monday). The small bush is the same on the right of each picture. What a difference a week makes!

Benedict XVI

Posted by joelbyer on April 19, 2005

Hmmm…so this blog was on the right track a few days ago! It’s one of the few things in life that I was on the right track about, so I had to point it out 🙂

Seriously, it kind of amuses me when I read or hear reaction to the election of former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. It’s like the liberal theologians/media, etc. think that the Catholic Church is obligated to accomodate their “enlightened” thinking and tolerate everyone else’s viewpoint as equally valid (eg. on abortion, homosexuality, etc). They seemed to be amazed that the Catholic Church is going to remain – gasp – Catholic!

Obviously, I have numerous and significant theoligical differences with the Catholic Church, but I have to admit that I respect just about anyone these days who is willing to strongly believe in…something!

If there’s one lesson we Protestants could learn from a Pope, it’s that we too had better not give into the allurements of post-modern culture.

Anyways, that’s my spiel for the day…

Janessa Joy Byer was dedicated in this morning service. Bro. Blake Jones dedicated the baby and preached the morning message. We had a good service and a gracious sense of the Lord’s presence.

The mysterious case of the wet sleeve

Posted by joelbyer on April 13, 2005

Problem: From time to time, Jeffrey has had a wet sleeve. It was too wet to just come from splashing water on it from his sippy cup. What could it be? Where did the water come from?

Answer: The toilet! Yes, today Jen caught Jeffrey swishing his hand in the toilet. And that, my dear Watson, is why Jeffrey has had a wet sleeve. Case closed.

George Younce passes away

Posted by joelbyer on April 11, 2005

“Singing News has learned that the legendary George Younce has
passed away. According to George’s son-in-law, Ernie Haase of
Signature Sound, George passed away at approximately 3:30 a.m.
this morning.”

I just got the above e-mail this evening. George Younce, in my opinion, was the greatest bass singer of all time. Nobody compares!
