We had a good Easter at the Byer house! We kept telling Jeffrey through the week that when he got up Easter morning, he would get an Easter basket. He didn’t get it though…until he got a basket with “very cool trucks” and other toys. (By way of explanation, Jeffrey doesn’t like candy, chocolate, cake, or pie…go figure! This is why we gave him toys instead of chocolate. It’s more healthy I guess. And yes, Janessa got stuff too, but she didn’t seem as excited :-). Even Jen and I got some stuff. Hey, pastors need Easter baskets too!

New Gas Pricing Policy

Posted by joelbyer on March 21, 2005

Yes folks, this is just about where today’s gas prices are going :-). Today our family went to Port Huron, MI and did some shopping…and paid $2.23 for a gallon of gas. My only consolation is knowing that you too have to pay a lot for gas. (kidding!)

Choose life!

MSNBC – The time has come to let Terri Schiavo die
Allow me to wade into politics here…with both feet! The above link is a column written by a “bio-ethicist” (nothing ethical about the column), who states that Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube should be removed, why?
Well, here’s his reason, “…So, it is clear that the time has come to let Terri die. Not because everyone who is brain damaged should be allowed to die. Not because her quality of life is too poor for anyone to think it meaningful to go on. Not even because she costs a lot of money to continue to care for. Simply because her husband who loves her and has stuck by her for more than 15 years says she would not want to live the way she is living…”
His whole reason for stating that Terri should die is because her “loving, compassionate” husband thinks it’s time.
Hello!!! Since 1995, Terri’s “loving husband” has been living with a girlfriend and has fathered 2 children with her, while all the while remaining still legally married to her husband.
This undercuts the entire thrust of his article. Funny how he didn’t mention the thing about Terri’s husband in the article.
This is so outrageous. A link to this article, by the way, was posted on the front page of www.msnbc.com. So much for our fair and objective media!

Scared of a feather

Posted by joelbyer on March 16, 2005

Yes folks, Jeffrey is scared of a feather. Today in the kitchen there was this feather, and we would blow it or just walk by it, and it would…gasp…move! This was about all Jeffrey could handle. Not that he was downright terrified, but at the same time, feathers must be treated with care. Children can be so entertaining!
