Well, well…look who hasn’t blogged for a loooonnnggggg time. Let’s see here. Since last time, we’ve been to Pennsylvania, and others from our extended family have also gotten sick. You see, we’re not selfish when it comes to the flu. Anyone who wants it from us…we don’t keep it to ourselves :-). Anyway, it’s been making its rounds, that’s for sure. Jen, Jeffrey, and Janessa are all doing well, and that’s about it for this time, I guess…

Our fun weekTis’ the season to have the stomach flu around here, I guess. Tuesday evening, Jeffrey came down with a virus and Mom & Dad did shift work through the night taking care for him. Thursday evening, Jen got it from Jeffrey, and was sick. Then Friday morning, I got it from Jen (or was it Jeffrey?), and then Friday evening, Jen’s mom, (who is with us for a few weeks) also caught it. Fortunately, everyone is doing better now, although Jen’s mom is still not back to par yet. So…if you’ve missed the stomach flu this season and haven’t had much fun recently, come over and visit us soon! We’d love to share it with you. 🙂
Hopefully, the next blog will have more good news…

Hmm…what’s new around here? Well, nothing amazing or profound, but still there’s a lot to be thankful for. Jeffrey and Janessa are both doing great. Jen and I are doing well, and I’m a thankful kind of guy! God has been good. In a little over a week or so, our family is going to Milmont, PA, where I will be speaking at a Youth Weekend there. If you’re in the area, stop by! Until next time…

Snow…snow…snow…yea! We’re coming towards the end of a pretty heavy snowfall here at Dawn Valley, and I like it – except that it forces me to stay grounded at home. Usually, Saturday afternoons, I’m out visiting, etc. for the church. Janessa is growing up. No she’s not exactly ready to drive or anything like that, but she’s becoming more alert and looking around more. Jeffrey likes to touch her fingers. It’s a new experience for him to be around someone who is younger and littler than he is. Well, that’s about it for now…

Things are settling down here again. The last 2 nights, Janessa has been sleeping better…for which her parents are quite thankful. About 95%+ of her day seems to be spent in sleep. Jeffrey has taken to her quite well, but he probably thinks she’s a little boring. She doesn’t even play with trucks yet! Anyway, I posted a few more pictures on the main page of our site. Yesterday, Janessa attended church for the first time, and that was pretty special. She attentively followed her father’s sermons, morning and evening, in their entirety. Occasionally, she took notes too. Occasionally, my imagination also runs wild.

It’s % And so soon! Jen and I are really thankful for the fast and relatively easy delivery of our new baby Janessa Joy Byer. She was born yesterday morning. I was kind of uptight about the delivery because I keenly remember the struggle Jen had last time with Jeffrey. She was 4 hours pushing…this time however it only took 4 minutes! As they kept telling me, second babies come much faster than the first, but for me the skeptic, seeing is believing.
Janessa came 16 days early, but still weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces. Notice my last blog below. I thought we had a few weeks yet, not realizing it was just a few days. You’ve probably already seen the pictures posted online, but just in case, this is the place to view them. http://www.geocities.com/jbyerfamily/home
Jen’s mom will be here the over the next few weeks or so to help take care of Jen. It promises to be a stressful time having my mother-in-law so close by 24/7, but hopefully I’ll be able to handle it all. Just kidding of course! If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be joking about it.

Only 21 days to go! (’til Jeffrey gets a baby brother or sister). This morning, Jeffrey was in his room and…tore it to shreds! OK, not literally, but he opened the drawers of his dresser and made the room look like some kind of runaway yard sale. It was definitely a toddler destruction zone.

This evening, Jeffrey took a tumble, and made a nice little bump near his eye. Jen was opening up the door, and Jeffrey went running, and he tripped and fell on his Matchbox truck (he owns approximately 1,543,303,533 of them). Thankfully, he was fine. And no, I haven’t gotten Christmas pictures posted yet. It’s because…because…umm…yeah! That’s why. Hopefully someday.

Happy New Year! Yes, it’s that time of year again. Jen, Jeffrey, and I had a good Christmas. Jeffrey found the true meaning and spirit of Christmas…opening gifts…OK, so he THINKS that’s what Christmas is all about for new, but we’ll have to teach him otherwise as he gets older. A few weeks ago, Jen had Jeffrey give his babysitter Amber a gift…then he wanted it back. Hmmmmm still some growing up to do! Jen and I are really looking forward to our new baby, due Jan. 28. When he/she comes, I’ll probably have a zillion pictures to post, so keep in touch.

4 days ’til Christmas! Jen, Jeffrey, and I are opening gifts Friday morning, just before some of my side of the family arrive for Christmas. Last Sunday, Jeffrey was in his first ever Christmas play…but let’s just say things didn’t go 100% smoothly! He was supposed to be the star that led the Wise Men to baby Jesus, but for some reason, he didn’t like wearing his star costume. So, he started crying when they put it on, and instead of walking onto the church platform, he went to the pew where Mommy was. Let’s just say that 3 Wise Men and a crying star puts a new twist on the traditional story.

See? I’m updating more already!

Wallahoopa! Wow, is this latest blog late! Anyway, things are moving right along around here. Jen and I are looking forward to our new baby due January 28. I suppose Jeffrey would be looking forward to it too, if he understood what was going on. He just pat’s Mom’s tummy, but I don’t think he’s clueing in yet. Some of my side of the family are coming here for Christmas this year, so we’re looking forward to that. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post some pictures from Christmas. (Although based on my track record these last 2 months don’t get your hopes up! Anyway…so long for now,

Well, fall is in full bloom in Dawn Valley. There is a tree just behind the church that is absolutely beautiful! This week, my wife and I are visiting some of my side of the family down in Ohio, so I’m updating this site on a computer at the library.. Jeffrey is growing up! People have remarked about how tall he is getting. Jen and I don’t notice is so much being that we’re around him all the time, but he’s definitely out of the little baby stage and into the terrible two’s. Sorry there are no new pictures since September, but hopefully we’ll have some to post within a week or 2. Well, that’s about it for now. If you’re ever in the area, stop by and see us some time! Bye for now, Joel Byer
